The history of Panerai began in 1860 with a small workshop and the first watchmaking school on the Ponte alle Grazie in Florence. Panerai started a cooperation with the Italian Navy. The watchmakers produced depth gauges and compasses for the navy. Later, Panerai landed a special order: a diving watch for naval soldiers. The demands of the navy were correspondingly high: waterproof and always easy to read - even under water. At that time, of course, something very unusual. So a cooperation with the Swiss watch company Rolex was born. Because Rolex was already known for its know-how in water resistance. To this day, Panerai is indispensable for the Italian Navy and is also one of the most sought-after vintage rarities.
We have compiled an overview of all watch straps that are compatible with Panerai watches.
At Officine Panerai, a distinction must be made between pin clasps and folding clasps. When designing for a pin buckle, please note that these straps are somewhat stronger and evenly padded. They have a relatively wide recess for the buckle pin, which is about 4 mm wide. On most models you can also use the so-called tubes. These are small metal tubes which are inserted at the end of the strap. These should prevent the strap from loosening from the watch case by movement. Since many Panerai watches are equipped with a screw system and not with normal spring bars.
Straps for the Panerai deployment buckle have a slightly flatter course so that they can be inserted through the deployment buckle - similar to Breitling watches. The recess for the thorn is with approx. 6 mm even a bit more. Tubes can also be used for the most part, but the straps can be combined with the respective clasp types. So a strap for the pin buckle cannot be used with the deployment buckle and vice versa.
Would you like a different buckle on your watch strap? No problem - we have various spring-bar buckles, screw-in buckles and deployment clasps.
