The name of this leather goes back to the Russian word “Jufti” (=a pair). Juchten (Russia) leather is a premium leather into which willow and birch bark is worked in following tanning to make this leather particularly resistant and compliant.
The high-end "Art Manuel" technique used for the RIOS1931 full-bugg strap is similar to a "Goodyear welted" or "frame-stitched" shoe. The lining is made from vegetable tanned cow leather with anti-allergic coating. In cross-section, the band shows a square padding and is quilted with matching stitching.
The leather pad (ca. 84 mm x 44 mm) protects the watch and prevents accumulation of sweat under the watch case, which can be a problem with normal watch straps. This bund style watch band is well suited for people with regular wrist sizes and the perfect choice for smaller chronographs and military wristwatches. It comes with a replaceable, polished spring-bar buckle made from nickel-free L316 stainless steel and a free matching spring-bar set.
