True to the motto "camouflage and deception - cheeky, casual and confident" - bracelets HIRSCH John. In this blog post we present the new watch straps from HIRSCH.
It’s an effective pattern for concealment, usually in various shades of green and brown, and has been used by the military and in hunting since time immemorial. The pattern is distinctive, and when it’s used in nature, its purpose is to manipulate the viewer’s eye in such a way that the concealed object or person becomes unrecognisable and indeed almost invisible.
However, in the jungle of a (big) city this popular pattern has exactly the opposite function. It immediately identifies the wearer as a trendsetter.
We are talking about the traditional camouflage pattern which has recently also become available in various unusual colour combinations, looking extremely impressive. One of them, for example, is a blue variation– the current trend colour of the year. After the excitingly flashy colours Ultraviolet (2018) and Living Coral (2019) of previous years, this year’s fashionable blue is bringing back some tranquillity into our colour range again.
Both the upper material and the core are made from HIRSCH Premium Caoutchouc (natural rubber) – the best raw material for functional bracelets. The processing of natural rubber is in a continuous state of development, giving rise to new design options. A new technology has been developed in-house, allowing multicoloured processing of the material. A clear-cut edge bet¬ween the different natural rubber colours makes it possible to present the material with different patterns in one layer.

The watch bracelet is made of HIRSCH premium rubber. It is considered the best raw material for functional bracelets. It is absolutely waterproof, dimensionally stable and tear-resistant. The premium material also ensures resistance to external influences such as UV light, chemicals and extreme heat and cold. It is also ideally suited for sensitive skin types.
The HIRSCH John variant is the sporty classic version. The embedded insertion loop as well as the high-quality stainless steel buckle in HIRSCH Classic design complete the watch bracelet.

The continuation of our blog formats: Our watches ABC! With this we have reached the third and thus last part. We explain terms around the topic of the clock.
  p.m.
The abbreviation p.m. comes from Latin and stands for "post meridiem". This means something like "after noon". It therefore describes the period from noon (12:00) to midnight (23:59).

  Quartz watch
A quartz watch is a fully electronic and electromechanical watch. Its clock generator is a quartz oscillating crystal. This oscillating quartz enables the watch to maintain its frequency particularly accurately. The movement of an electronic quartz watch is called a quartz movement.

  Retrograde watch
A retrograde watch runs counterclockwise and is therefore a retrograde clock. Such clocks are particularly used in countries where the reading direction is also reversed. With a retrograde watch, the hands literally dance out of line. The hands jump back to their starting point after a quarter or semicircle.

  Sports watches
In general, sports watches convince with their robustness and functionality. As different as the athletes are, so different are the sports watches. The functions required vary according to the type of sport. Some functions include the heart rate monitor, analysis functions such as step frequencies or ground contact time, and the GPS function. Water resistance or the alarm setting could also be requirements for a sports watch.

  Pinion
The pinion is the smaller of two gears in mechanical movements. Together, both gears form the gear train. The pinion is used for power transmission and has 6 to 16 teeth.

  Watchwinder
With the help of a watch winder watches are wound up and thus made ready for operation. A watch winder is intended for automatic watches. Background is here that these watches are wound by the movements on the wrist. This process imitates the watch winder.

  World Time
World time is the time measurement which is used all over the world in the respective time zones. In the past, every place had its own time. Sonach it was 12 o'clock as soon as the sun was at its highest point. But later this became a problem. Regarding the coming mobility of bus and train it became difficult and a uniform time had to be defined. In 1879 a worldwide time zone system was developed for the first time. The earth was divided into 24 hour zones. The differences between each time zone are exactly one hour and thus a maximum of 23 hours to the respective time zone.

  Time zones
There are a total of 24 time zones, each comprising 15 degrees of longitude and beginning at the zero meridian. The time zones are based on so-called spherical two corners, each of which is assigned one of the 24 hours of a day as the time. When moving from one time zone to the next, the time shifts by one hour. This depends on the direction of the compass. In the west the time shifts one hour backwards, in the east one hour forwards.

Here is the continuation of our new blog format - Our Watches ABC.

  Manual winding
The manual winding is the manual way to make a watch run. The winding crown is tensioned by hand and thus provides a power reserve of up to 40 hours.

  Indications
Indications are all devices with which the passage of time is represented. The so-called indication sheets help in this respect. Not only the time can be displayed, but also the moon phases, the respective date or the time in other time zones.

  Year clock
A so-called annual clock has a power reserve of a whole year. Therefore it only needs to be wound once. In order to guarantee a smooth functioning, an annual clock is equipped with a special movement, which is particularly reliable.

  Caliber
The caliber is a designation for the movement used. It describes the shape and size of the movement in question. The caliber number stands for the movement type of the watch. Using this number, a watchmaker can correctly select and reorder the appropriate spare parts for a particular watch as required.

  Crown
The crown is located on the side of the watch case and is a ribbed control element with which the time or other displays can be set. On watches with manual winding, the crown also serves to wind the watch. In the past, even pocket watches had to be wound with the key. Nowadays, this is done with the crown - the "interface between user and watch" so to speak.

  Bezel
The bezel is a border around the dial of a watch. Bezels vary greatly from watch type to watch type. In a small watch, the bezel is a part of the watch case. In a large watch, the bezel is a decorative ring around the dial.

  Military Watches
Military watches are watches that are particularly precise and very robust.
The large dial with dark tones makes the numbers and hands very easy to read. In addition, water resistance and shock resistance are among the characteristics of a military watch.

  Zero Count Alarm
A stop watch running backwards has a zero count alarm. It emits a signal tone when the target time of 0 minutes and 0 seconds is reached. The zero count alarm is also called a countdown timer.

  Officer's watches
Officer's clocks are technically perfect and decorative travel clocks from the 18th and 19th centuries. These clocks had a brass case and were equipped with a striking mechanism and repetition. In some cases, the officers' clocks also had an alarm clock movement. The Swiss officer's watches with gilded bronze cases are particularly famous.

May we introduce? The new blog format of WACCEX: Our watches ABC - special terms explained. We explain technical terms around the topic watches. Starting with a.m. up to the time zones - everything included!

  a.m.
The abbreviation a.m. stands for the period from midnight to noon. When written out in full, the two terms mean ante meridiem, which means as much as before noon.

  Analogue display
In an analogue display, the time is represented by hands on a dial.

  Bridge movement
A bridge movement of a watch is a mechanical movement with manual winding. The gear train is connected to the plate via bridges.
Watch movements with a bridge movement stood for quality for a long time. Due to the continuous development, modern movements now have very compact versions. The importance of bridge movements in wristwatches is therefore almost completely extinct today.

  Chronograph
The term chronograph is derived from two Greek terms: chronos stands for "time" and grapho for "I write". In 1821, the Frenchman Rieussec invented the first chronograph, for which he applied for a patent a year later.
A chronograph is a mechanism in which the pressure of one or two pushers attached to the case of the watch sets its own hand in motion and can be stopped again. With these pushers the hand can also be reset to zero. This function can be used to stop lap times, for example.
Time spans from one minute up to 12 hours can be measured, depending on the technical equipment.

  Chronometer
Chronometer simply stands for "timepiece". A chronometer is a particularly precise watch with absolute accuracy. In other words, a watch that displays the time with particular accuracy.
After a special test, in which the watch has to prove its accuracy, it receives a so-called rate certificate. This test takes a total of 15 days. The watch is tested in five positions and at three different temperatures. After passing the test, the watch receives the corresponding certificate and is allowed to call itself a chronometer.

  Spring-bar buckle
The spring-bar buckle is the classic among the types of fasteners for watches. Holes are punched in the longer side of the bracelet, whereas the spring-bar buckle is located in the shorter band. The buckle consists of a pin and a U-shaped metal clasp. The thorn is pushed into the desired hole and the metal shackle prevents the thorn from slipping out of the hole again.
The most commonly used buckles are those of leather or textile watch straps.

  Perpetual calendar
With a perpetual calendar in a watch, the day, day of the week, week counter, month, season, leap year display and moon phase are accurately displayed over the years. However, the even and odd months as well as the leap years are not taken into account.
The time calculation goes back to the Gregorian calendar. According to it, the year has 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds. According to this calculation, therefore, about 5 hours are lost. In order to compensate for this time, a leap year is inserted every 4 years, which compensates for the loss.
To integrate the perpetual calendar into the precise technology of a movement is therefore anything but an easy task!

  Deployment clasp
With a deployment clasp, the bracelet is not opened completely, but is unfolded and expanded at hinges. This is also the advantage over a pin buckle. This is because with a folding clasp there is no risk of cracks occurring due to frequent putting on and taking off the watch.
The deployment clasp is often found on metal link straps as a closure type.

  Pilot's watches
The so-called pilot's watches are watches that are specially designed for the needs of pilots. Often the pilot's watches are designed as chronographs. So they have an additional stop watch function. This can be recognized by the additional small dials - so-called totalizers - which are located on the main dial.
In 1906 the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumot developed the first pilot's watch. These watches had very precise mechanical movements and were built robustly and shock-resistant. Thanks to the large, easy-grip crown, the watch could be adjusted and wound even when wearing gloves. The pilot's watches were constantly developed further and are still of great importance for pilots today.

  Accuracy
The term accuracy describes the time deviation of a watch within a certain period of time. The amount of deviation is also called rate error. Accuracy is very important for the various technical processes to function synchronously. Different watches have different deviations. For example, an automatic watch has a rate accuracy of +/- 30 seconds per day. An atomic clock, on the other hand, only deviates by one second within 30 million years.

In our last blog post we already presented four watch types. But since there are many more watch brands, we thought about a second part about this topic. Because a wristwatch is not only an accessory, it often says a lot about the personality and style of its owner.

In most cases, a watch tells more than just the time.

Every watch has a certain image. Depending on the brand and price range. Rather bulky or rather slim? Steel bracelet or leather strap? Quartz, manual winding or automatic? All these components and many more distinguish you as a watch wearer and reveal how you and your watch tick.

Find out what type of watch you are!

   The Rolex carrier
True to the motto: I have achieved something in life, then I may also treat myself to something. But this attitude does not only include the Rolex - it also includes an expensive car, a designer suit and luxury vacations. As much as he likes luxury, security is just as important to him. He does not like experiments, because he always wants to know what he gets for his money. The Rolex is not only an expensive accessory for him, it is above all a good investment.

The watch expert wears Patek Philippe
Not only does he know his way around watches, but he is also a bigwig in his profession. His high degree of discipline and his perfectionism can be noticed in all areas. When buying a watch, he also checks all the facts and can hardly be influenced. The precise manufacturing process of a watch by Patek Philippe inspires him just as much as the modern technology that is in the watch. However, he does not want to show off with valuables, not even with his watch.

   The sportsman wears Tag Heuer
This watch is the sporting ace among luxury watches. The owner not only wants to be in harmony with himself, his watch should also be suitable for his sporting ambitions. The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Tag Heuer has redefined the boundaries of accuracy and luxury prestige. The watch wearer also wants to redefine his sporty limits time and again and thus become better and better.

The man with the Hublot watch
He is fashionable, has his own style and great interest in sporting events. All these aspects also apply to Hublot one to one. The luxury brand is known worldwide through the World and European Football Championships. There the scoreboards were used in the design of a Hublot watch. The materials and colours that make up Hublot watches are as varied as their fields of interest. It is precisely this special feature that the owner likes about this brand, as he is keen to experiment and loves unusual things.

A watch has long since ceased to be just a tool for displaying the time. It can also be a status symbol and often reflects certain characteristics of its owner.
Especially today, when we are flooded with stimuli and everything is incredibly fast moving, the more traditional and well-tried objects are becoming more and more important again.
Often simply the smartphone is used to check the time or one of the online watches. Besides these two revolutions, the classic wristwatch still plays a very important role.

What role the watch on your wrist plays and what it says about you as its owner, we will show you in this blog post:
What type of watch are you?

  The Breitling Guy
He is the successful businessman who is always looking for the big entrance. Because he not only loves adrenaline, he also spares no kind of test of courage. He doesn't lack self-confidence, but at the same time he manages not to look ostentatious with his behaviour and his watch. However, he has his own opinion about everything and he also expresses it out loud. Ambition and success are also at the top of his list of priorities. In his spare time this type of man likes to travel and thus likes to gain new experiences.

The one who wears only IWC
The proud owner of an IWC (international watch company) watch is not only satisfied with his professional life, he is also a family man with heart and soul. Not only does he like the iconic design of this brand watch, which has a very high recognition value, but he is also enthusiastic about the technology inside the watch.

  The Omega Worshipper
Anyone who owns a watch of this brand has not only chosen a watch but a lifestyle when buying it. But not just any lifestyle! Your life is characterized by a lot of action, sports and adventures. The watch manufacturer Omega is one of the few that has managed to find the perfect balance between luxury and adventure. Climbing mountains or spontaneously jumping in a lake are among the leisure activities of this type of watch.

  The Panerai Carrier
In his youth, the man who now wears a Panerai watch was one of those hipsters. As far as his style is concerned, he has kept this attitude and shows it skilfully in his own way. In the meantime he has a typical job in the office and works single-mindedly on big projects. Creativity must not be neglected in this process. As a leisure activity he makes many short trips to nearby countries or spontaneously goes away for the weekend.

This is exactly what is happening at the top manufacturer of watch straps, HIRSCH - The bracelet since 1765.
2020 will see the start of one of the largest product range optimizations in the company's history under the motto "Less is More! The aim is to create more clarity, more transparency and more choice for customers and business partners. The Hirsch bracelet range has been optimised accordingly to make selection even easier, more attractive and more efficient. There is now a clear product range structure without cannibalization and a simple price architecture with clear price logic. As the biggest innovation, from January 2020, all Hirsch watch straps will gradually be equipped with a quick-release pin, the "Hirsch Quick-Release". This system enables the customer to change his bracelet quickly and easily, thus giving his watch a new, suitable appearance depending on his outfit and ensuring that he is perfectly dressed for every occasion.

In addition to the mentioned assortment optimization, there are of course also corresponding assortment extensions, for example to be able to offer the strongly growing "vegan" community an alternative to the leather wristband. For example, Hirsch is also developing a wide variety of plant-based materials that have the valued properties of leather, but are completely animal-free. The latest achievement here is "Birch", a sustainable bracelet whose upper side is made of naturally grown and finely refined birch cane bark, which has been combined with a highly functional core of HIRSCH premium rubber. The still clearly recognizable wood grain of the birch reminds by its uniqueness of precious marquetry with differently structured Inclusions.

Sustainability as a matter of course - of course also in bracelets is the motto of HIRSCH watch straps!

In today's blog post we would like to deal with the following question: How do I change a watch strap or a clasp? Unfortunately, this also applies here: No rule without exception! But most watch straps or clasps can be changed very easily. How? Read this blog and find out how you can do it in the twinkling of an eye! A normal watch strap is held by a so-called spring bar on the case of the watch. It concerns here a small metal tube in which a spring is, which presses left and right a small web outward. To release the bracelet from the case of the watch, this spring must be compressed a little. The easiest way to do this is with a spring bar tool . Usually such tools have two sides. One looks like a small fork. This side can be pushed between the watch bracelet and the watch case. So you can compress the spring bar and the watch strap can be easily detached from the case. The spring bar can then be removed and the watch strap replaced.

There are also watches that have a small hole in their case where the strap is connected to the case. For such types, most spring bar tools have a small mandrel on the other side which can be used to compress the spring bar . The rest works the same as the other version.

TIP: If you are unsure or are changing a watch strap for the first time, it is advisable to place the watch upside down on a soft cloth . The watch can then be better fixed to perform the change. In addition, you can tape the horns of the watch - the part where the watch strap is connected to the case - with a small strip of tape. If you slip off with the tool when changing, the Tesafilm prevents unattractive scratches on the watch case. Changing a clasp works in most cases according to the same principle. Here, too, the clasp is held in place by a small spring bar on the watch strap and can also be exchanged. In our shop we offer suitable spring bar tools for every article. From the simple tool for the occasional change, up to the professional tool for passionate Watch Aficionados. The tool can be placed in the shopping cart immediately with the purchase at a reasonable price.

In addition, we also offer you the possibility to perfectly adapt your watch strap to the case of your watch or to your personal needs. If, for example, you would rather have your watch strap with a gold-coloured clasp, you can easily select it. We will then exchange the mounted clasp for the clasp of your choice. Even if you would like to wear your watch strap with a folding clasp, you can still make your choice here. You don't need to worry about whether the clasp will fit your watch strap. Depending on the selection and size of the watch strap, only suitable clasp options will be displayed. If you have any questions or require further support, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time!

Which watch bracelet goes with which watch?
We are often asked: How do I find the right bracelet for my watch or which bracelet can I use for my watch at all? Unfortunately, these questions cannot be answered as completely and, as in every area, no rule can be answered without exception. However, we would like to give you some valuable tips in today's blog post that will help you make your choice.
First of all, you should check whether your own watch is suitable for a universal replacement wristband . In order to ensure this, your old watch strap should have a normal straight impulse, as can be seen in the lower left graphic. Some brands have special features regarding the strap and also some buckle, which have to be considered. But for the most part we can also help you here. If you are unsure, please send us a photo of your watch at any time and we will be happy to advise you.

A second important criterion for the selection of your perfect new watch strap is the material used . First and foremost, of course, you are allowed to do whatever you like, but with the right choice, the character of your watch can still be highlighted particularly well. As a rule of thumb, the simpler the dial, the more eye-catching the strap can be, and vice versa. For example, watch straps with exotic patterns - such as alligator, crocodile, ostrich or teju lizard - can be used for watches that have a very simple, tidy design. Conversely, sporty chronographs with many functions often appear overloaded by such bands. Here a non-structured leather like calf, beef or shell cordovan is more suitable.
Once this question has been answered, the bracelet should be selected according to the nature of the watch . If the watch is very large and dominant, then a watch strap with similar characteristics is needed so that it does not look lost on the watch. Watch straps for Breitling chronographs, for example, are heavily padded because they are very solid watches. The opposite is true. If you have a very fine, elegant and filigree watch, then you should choose a very flat padded watch strap that reflects the proportions of the watch well. Otherwise, the combination of strap and watch is not very harmonious.
The colour of the ribbon also plays an important role and should be taken into account. This applies both to the colour of the leather and to the colour of the seam. In general, the lighter the colour or seam, the more casual the tape will look. Bands with very light or bright colours or seams are ideal for sporty chronographs or leisure watches. Watch straps with dark colours or seams - such as black/black or brown/brown - are perfect for elegant and fine timepieces.
The last criterion is the length of the bracelet . The majority of our straps are suitable for people with normal wrists. However, we also have special sizes for people with extremely narrow and extremely strong wrists.
In order to give you an initial overview of the characteristics of our watch straps, we have provided a brief description for each model, which makes it easier for you to make an initial model selection. Here you will find information about the upper leather used, the shape, cross-section, seam colour, the design of the strap and its length.
We will also show you our "Compare" function. Here you can compare interesting watch straps at a glance with just a few mouse clicks. Try this out right now!

Especially today, when we are flooded with stimuli and everything has become incredibly fast moving, the question arises more and more often: Do you still need a classic wristwatch nowadays? A quick view at the Smartphone, the Smartwatch or a trendy fitness tracker is often enough to find out the current time. The latter even tells you how many steps you have taken today.
Even the watch industry itself does not send out any favorable signals. The number of visitors to Baselworld, one of the world's most traditional watch and jewelry fairs, has fallen by almost a quarter this year. This is certainly due to the withdrawal of the largest exhibitor, the Swatch Group, with brands such as Omega, Longines and Blancpain.
But there are also more and more people who are resisting this fast pace and following the new "slow-down" trend. It is easy to explain why more traditional and well-tried items are regaining their importance. This also includes the classic wristwatch. High-quality Swiss chronometers - such as Rolex or Patek Philippe - are virtually unavailable from local ADs.
Even for previously undesirable standard models, such as a Rolex Datejust or Oyster Perpetual, there are now long waiting lists, sometimes of several years. For a most desired watch - such as a Rolex Daytona or Patek Philippe Nautilus - one can confidently give up hope without any vitamin B. It is more likely to win the lottery than to receive such a sweetheart from the jeweler of trust.
Here it becomes clear that the classic wristwatch still plays a very important role in today's world. A high-quality watch on the wrist is more than just a tool to display the time. It is a status symbol that you look at a hundred times during the day, only to discover that you don't know what time it is.
For us a fact: A high-quality wristwatch was, is and will always be a piece of jewelry that will last.
